Everything you need to know about the MSA 4×4 Towing Mirrors
The MSA 4×4 Towing Mirrors are designed for towing caravans, camper trailers, wide trailers, boats and horse floats. They offer a wide viewing angle with an adjustable pivot and are very easy to install. One of the benefits of these mirrors is that they can be left in place because they retract and expand, not needing to be removed when you aren’t towing. This alone makes it worthwhile installing these MSA mirrors on your vehicle.
Another great benefit is that these aren’t generic mirrors where one size fits all. These mirrors are designed to suit specific vehicles, so they complement your vehicle and don’t look out of place like so many other brands. If you want to maximise your safety on the road, then these MSA mirrors are the solution you need.
Features of the MSA 4×4 towing mirrors
The MSA 4×4 Towing Mirrors allow you to comfortably see past your trailer, wide tray, caravan or horse float while driving. Its unique design means that it’s equally as effective for day to day driving, as it is for towing. This means that you don’t need to remove the mirror when you’re not towing, unlike many other options.
The angle of the mirror can be adjusted to give you an unobstructed view of your towed vehicle and the traffic behind and to the side. You can horizontally and vertically pivot the mirror so that drivers of different heights and sitting positions can comfortably use these mirrors. The mirror can be extended horizontally when towing, then quickly moved back towards your vehicle for normal driving or when parking in a garage or narrow parking spot.
The heavy duty extension arm that allows for horizontal movement allows you to smoothly adjust the position of the mirror, whether close to your vehicle for daily driving or further out for towing. Infills are also available that cover the extending arm, which are not compulsory, simply giving the extension arm a flush appearance when towing (it needs to be removed to retract the mirror).
Since the MSA 4×4 Towing Mirrors are designed for specific vehicles, they actually replace your current mirrors and can be installed in the same position on your vehicle. The large single mirror is manufactured from slightly curved glass that optimises your vision but doesn’t distract your normal driving behaviour. The extender arm and casings are made from injection moulded and die cast aluminium that delivers a quality mirror suitable for extreme outback conditions.

Why install the MSA 4×4 Mirrors?
There are plenty of towing mirrors on the market, so why bother with the MSA 4×4 mirrors? Well, one reason is because most of these other mirrors need to be attached to your existing mirrors, so they stick out from the side of your vehicle. This means that you need to remove them when you’re not towing or they can become annoying. However, this constant on and off also becomes very wearing after a while.
So it’s good to know that the MSA mirrors can be left attached to your vehicle forever and don’t need to be taken on and off. That’s because they replace your existing mirrors and can be easily extended and retracted. You can deploy them when you’re towing and retract them when you need them for non-towing purposes. In fact, if you didn’t know any better, when they are fully retracted they look just like other OEM mirrors, but with the benefit of a very wide viewing angle.
You can move these mirrors into four different positions:
- Retracted with the mirror in a horizontal position.
- Retracted with the mirror in a vertical position.
- Extended with the mirror in a horizontal position.
- Extended with the mirror in a vertical position.
The extended vertical position is good for seeing around a canopy on the back of your Ute or 4WD, whilst the extended horizontal position is better when towing a trailer or caravan. If you are driving down tight tracks with lots of branches or gullies, even parking in tight spots, then these mirrors can be easily retracted into a safe vertical position and then extended again when the hazard has passed.
In fact, it’s difficult to think of them as towing mirrors, because they are so different to others on the market. Most of the available options become quite annoying when you’re not towing! These mirrors, on the other hand, are the perfect all-rounders taking you from towing a trailer down a dirt track to parking in a shopping centre. The key to its popularity is its unique design that allows the mirror to be extended for towing and retracted for non-towing, preventing your mirrors from permanently sticking out the sides of your 4WD.
The MSA 4×4 Towing Mirrors are tough and versatile, taking you anywhere you need to go, whether that’s down a scrubby creek, up a dirt track or cruising along a busy freeway. They look just like regular OEM mirrors (and nothing like other towing mirrors) and give you as many positional options as needed to keep you safe and comfortable on the road.
So if you are fed up with strapping on your towing mirrors, fixing and unfixing stabiliser arms or driving around with the mirrors stuck out like Dumbo ears, the MSA 4×4 Towing Mirrors were designed with your next trip in mind. At least with the MSA option you won’t have to worry about strapping on your mirrors whilst everyone else is waiting impatiently for you to get behind the wheel!
