The Dunn & Watson Canopy Cargo Drawer is perfect for tradies or travellers who want to keep everything tidy, safe and organised in the back of their 4WD. It’s designed to fit effortlessly inside your canopy with plenty of room for additional drawers to the side or on top, as well as your fridge, generators and other gear behind or to the side.

Benefits of our 125kg Hercules locking drawer slides

The 125 kg Hercules Series locking drawer slides are available in length of 356mm to 1016mm, so they can be custom ordered for all your projects. They open to their full extension, which means that it’s really easy to access anything at the back of the drawer. However, when installing the Canopy Cargo Drawer, you must add an additional 25mm to the available width, as the orange coloured triggers that open and close the drawer protrude 25mm out the front of the slides. So instead of requiring a depth of 800mm for this cargo drawer, you’ll need 825mm.

Using the locking drawer slides is very easy. All you need to do is to depress each trigger at the same time and pull the drawer towards you. When it’s at its full extension and you release the triggers, the drawer locks into place. This means that if you are parked on a slope or if it’s bumped by someone walking past, the drawer won’t slide closed again. This locking feature saves little fingers from being trapped when a drawer suddenly slams shut.

Closing is just as simple, because all you need to do is depress the triggers and push the drawer into the closed position. Once you release the triggers the drawer remains closed and will not slide open again or slide back and forth as you’re driving. The drawer can only be opened or closed by depressing the triggers and pulling it open or pushing it closed. These locking drawer slides are the perfect safety feature for all the drawer systems in the back of your Ute or 4WD.

These locking drawer slides are also fitted to the smaller version of this Canopy Cargo Drawer and you also need to add the additional 25mm when fitting it as well.

Canopy Cargo Drawer and Slide Out Bench

If you think that you might benefit from a slide out bench installed underneath the Canopy Cargo Drawer, we have one that fits this larger drawer (900mm W x 800mm D x 260mm H), as well as the smaller option (670mm W x 600mm D x 260mm H).

The big benefit of this slide out bench is that it maximises the use of space in the back of your canopy. With a slide out bench, you actually double your working surface. That’s because the slide out bench is the same width and depth of the drawer. You simply unlock the drawer and open it towards you, then you unlock the slide out bench and pull it towards you as well.

Both the drawer and the bench are fitted with 125kg locking drawer slides so they’re both locked in the open and closed position. This makes parking on slopes easy, because the drawer and bench will remain stable and secure in the open or closed positions. Once the drawer and slide out bench are both fully open, you can lift out your gear straight onto the bench without having to search around for somewhere to stack it.

The slide out bench can also remain open and usable while the drawer has been completely closed and locked in place. You can reopen the drawer to get something else out while the bench is in use or leave the bench closed when the drawer is open. They work independently, giving you a lot of additional space and functionality in your canopy.

The drawer and bench combination work well when installed next to a fridge, because you can take out food or drinks from the fridge and place them on the open bench while you close the fridge. The bench is also strong enough to take your camping stove, so you can quickly boil the kettle or whip up a light snack for lunch or dinner.
