What you should know about the 80L and over sideways tilting fridge slide
This heavy duty 80L & under tilting fridge slide is ideal for camper trailers, four wheel drive and ute canopies of all types. It is the perfect accessory for situations when your fridge is simply too high for easy access in your vehicle or if you don’t have enough height to open the lid fully inside the car or trailer. This well-designed slide allows you to extend the fridge out and towards you so you can easily pivot it downwards on an angle. This tilt effectively reduces the height while keeping it locked in place for easy and secure access to the contents of the fridge.
What sizes are available in the sideways tilting fridge slide range?
This model of the Dunn and Watson tilt slide has a volume of 80L and over. If you need a different size for your fridge, we stock the following models:
50L and under
60L and over
95L and over
The length of the 60L and over tilt slide is 575mm and the total width is 930mm. This total width includes the internal width of the tray which is 860mm plus the two tilting arms’ widths of 35mm on either side. When you’re taking your measurements, bear in mind that due to the addition of the front locking feature there is an extra 25mm to accommodate the length. The width does not need to be adjusted for the locking feature. We recommend you carefully measure the size of your fridge to make sure that it will fit properly in the dimensions of the internal tray. The extra 25mm needs to be accounted for when measuring the space in your ute or four-wheel-drive. All of our fridge slides are designed to suit the majority of commonly used fridge brands such as Engel, Waeco and Evakool. If you’re not sure which sized slide is the right one for your specific application, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team today.
Gas struts make a world of difference!
Why don’t all fridge slides come with gas struts? If a slide moves horizontally you won’t need them! Tilting fridge slides, sideways configurations included, would be very hard to use without gas struts providing assistance. Not only are fridges heavy when they’re full but they can weigh a lot empty as well. While it’s difficult to imagine being able to tilt the fridge down on a slide without assistance from gas struts, raising it would be close to impossible. Our gas struts are made from nitro carbonised shafts and come with a black carbon coated body. So, not only are they essential and durable for both opening and closing your fridge on a tilt slide, but they’ll contrast nicely with the hardware installation as well.
80L sideways tilting slide features
Fabricated from high quality 3mm aluminium, these slides don’t just operate well – they look great too! Strong, corrosion resistant, and durable, they’re ideal for anyone and everyone who lives on or spends time near the sea.
The tilting slide allows for complete extension and is very easy to lower and access the fridge thanks to well-engineered assisting gas struts. The slides come with 227kg locking drawer slides. These engage automatically when fully open or fully closed. The use of this safety feature is that the fridge and slide won’t move back and forth when you don’t want or expect it to, which can cause injury or damage. When completely closed the lock-in mechanism means you can drive with peace of mind that it won’t open mid-journey. It’s important to note that the mechanism for locking only engages when it is in the fully open or closed position.

Do you need a tilting fridge slide or drop down fridge slide?
Do you know what the difference is between these two types of fridge slides? While they offer similar functionalities, their methods of operation are different. The drop down fridge slide range does not offer tilting capability. This means when you pull the fridge out towards you it will drop 300mm in the horizontal position (once fully extended, of course). You can still access the fridge at a convenient height but without the angle. Drop down slides are for use in applications where a standard pull out or a tilting slide aren’t suitable, such as on top of a drawer system or false floor.
Both types of fridge slides are extremely useful and perfect for installation in your ute canopy or four-wheel-drive. The right model for you will depend on your situation and application.

Using your tilt slide
Using the fridge slide is easy! All you have to do is unlock the front locking trigger by pressing down on each release button at the front of the drawer slide. Then simply pull the fridge towards you until it’s fully extended in the horizontal position. The lock-in mechanism will automatically kick in. You can then effortlessly tilt and pivot the fridge downwards thanks to the gas assisted lift function and access your fridge and its contents. When you’re finished, just pivot the slide up again to the horizontal position and release the lock-out mechanism with the trigger levers. Then push the fridge along the slide back into your vehicle. Make sure it is fully closed and the locking mechanism will re-engage.
That’s about it when it comes to our 80L sideways configured tilting fridge slide. Remember: this 3mm aluminium slide comes with 227kg locking drawer slides and gas strut assistance to ensure safe, easy and convenient access to your fridge. Between our variety of sizes and custom fabrication options, you’re bound to find the perfect slide to accompany you on your next camping adventure.
