95L & over sideways tilting fridge slide: everything you need to know

Are you looking for the perfect tilting fridge slide for your camper trailer, four-wheel-drive or ute? This heavy duty sideways configuration is designed for fridges with capacities of 95L and over. If your fridge is too high in your vehicle for you or your children to access comfortably or if you can’t open the lid of the chest fridge inside your vehicle, this is the perfect solution.

All you need to do is slide the fridge out along the horizontal slide and easily pivot it down and on an angle for easy access to its contents. Reduce your fridge’s height, improve its angle and lock it in place–it’s that easy.

What sizes are available in the sideways tilt slide?

The Dunn and Watson sideway tilt slides come in the 95L and over size and a variety of smaller ones:

50L and under
60L and over
80L and over

The length of the 95L and over tilt slide is 600mm and the total width is 1091mm. This includes the internal tray of 1005mm plus room on either side for the width of the two tilting arms. Due to the additional lock-in feature which is located at the front, when you measure the space you need available at the back of your vehicle you will need to add 25mm as well.

It’s important to carefully measure both the size of your fridge to ensure it can fit the dimensions of the internal tray of the slide and also the space of the cavity in your vehicle so that it can hold the entire slide plus the additional 25mm of space for the locking mechanism. All of our sideways tilting fridge slides are compatible with the majority of fridge brands, including Engel, Evakool and Waeco.

Our gas struts will lift your slide whenever you need it!

Our gas struts are made from a nitro carbonised shaft and a black carbon coated body. The gas struts assist in the lowering and lifting of your fridge slide to make it easy and hassle-free no matter how full your fridge is. Not all fridge slides come with gas struts because if it only moves horizontally there is no need. For tilting slides, however, operating the mechanism without the assistance of gas struts would be extremely difficult whether the fridge is empty or fully loaded. The gas struts make the difficult task of lowering the fridge easy and the impossible task of liting it back into the close position possible.

Additionally, it ensures the closed fridge remains in position and won’t slide open while you’re driving. It’s important to note that the slides lock in the fully open and fully closed positions only.

Tilting fridge slides and drop down fridge slides

Tilting fridge slides and drop down fridge slides operate differently but provide similar functionality. They are both designed to allow easier access to vehicle slides.

Drop down fridge slides, such as our Platinum Drop Down Fridge Slide, do not tilt like the tilting fridge slides but they similarly lock in and out. Drop down fridges work by being pulled out horizontally towards you and then, once fully extended, dropping 300mm down into a horizontal position so you can access the fridge at a more user-friendly height. Drop down slides, in contrast to tilting slides, can be installed on top of a false floor or a drawer system. Due to the tulting functionality, tilt slides won’t operate correctly.
